Chia Project

Chia is a small village located 20 km from Salamanga; in Chia, Fundação Minhembeti has a land of 200 aches where castor oil seeds are being planted. This land is located near the river, the current aim is to build an electric water pump in order to bring the water from the river to the land for domestic use and harvesting the seeds, the estimate cost of this pump is +/- MZN 1,225,251.00 (€17,000 / USD $20,000).

Castor oil has amazing benefits for the body including: treatment for constipation, it has antimicrobial properties, promotes hair growth and natural remedies for arthritis. This oil is also used in plane engines since 1940 as a lubricant. It Is highly resistant to degradations when the engine has its fuel-air mixture leaned for maximum engine speed.

The purpose of this project, to make sure the Fundação Minhembeti is self-sustained in the near future.
